Hi All

As the dealer who travelled furthest to participate in the fair I cannot wait for next year to do it all again. Coming from South Africa and being a participant in a top international fair was an amazing experience. Congratulations must go to the Clarion team for all the “above and beyond “they gave, which they did. Mary Claire you are incredible !!

No one can be under any illusion as to how challenging buisness is at present and PR is always going to be at the heart of any great event. The team led by Alex not only delivered but in my case managed to create an international awareness that would have cost me in excess of 20 thousand pounds. I had international web based TV coverage -see this link-
http://english.cntv.cn/program/cultureexpress/20110617/104056.shtml done for China TV news.
The Old Corkscrew was also mentioned in no fewer than 14 press releases including a very good mention in the TELEGRAPH online. I was invited to be present at the press briefing and had acess to journalists from Germany, the UK and China. No small buisness can ever manage to pull this off on it’s own and here it was, all for the taking just by being a participant in a fair.
Special thanks must go to Ciara and Silke for all the extra effort they put in as well.

I was a participant in the Chinese promotion and this has huge potential going forward. It was challenging for the team to put together and there was interest from those visitors who attended. Hasiba and Wing were all over this and I saw the amount of effort they had put in.The promotion did not culminate in sales this time, but it shows great potential. For the minimal effort of putting in a few top pieces and giving a personal and intimate talk it is certainly worth pursuing going forward. What must be noted was the age group of those who were there. The 25- 40 age group is where the future of our industry lies and they arrived and interacted with the dealers present. The questions I fielded showed the quality of the potential client, that could arise from this.

Like most of you I also experienced the mid fair lull between Monday and Thursday and this is always going to be the challenge to overcome and improve upon. Promotions such as the talks givern to Coutts clients and guided tours around the fair are the answer. But this requires input from all dealers in order to pull off. As many have pointed out it is a quiet period and if you can give a talk in your area of speciality then please do so. We all rely on each other for a fair to work and the sum is always greater than the parts.

London in my opinion is the center of the Antiques world and Olympia is the heart- see you all next year.

Best regards
Jeremy
