Charlecote, the antique business, is celebrating twenty-five years in the trade this coming fall with a special exhibition titled “Masterpieces of England, China, and Japan from 1700 BC through the 21st century “
Our 337 East 55th Street showroom is located in the historical Crestwood Shopping district in Kansas City, Missouri. The Crestwood shops were built in the early 20′s and still retain their original Georgian exteriors. Charlecote is located a few minutes from the famous Country Club Plaza and one mile from the Nelson-Atkins Museum. We may be reached by flying into Kansas City International Airport located thirty minutes from the gallery.
You will find that our showrooms display some of the finest pieces of 18th century English Furniture in walnut, mahogany satinwood and rosewood, together with unusual and choice objects d’art. Charlecote is ever amazed at the skill ingenuity and creativity of the 18th and 19th century craftsmen. The variety of designs for both the practical and fanciful is limitless. The right time to buy antique furniture therefore must always be “now” as history has shown whatever you buy now will become rarer in time.
Charlecote’s advice is always available to clients wishing to purchase or dispose of collections and upon request we shall always be pleased to send photographs of items that we may have in stock to suit your requirements.

CONSERVATION
We can arrange restoration and maintenance services to suit your needs. We believe that although furniture should never look new or refinished, it looks much better polished and well maintained. Our professionals can do your repairs from minor to major and polish and wax your antiques furniture to allow you to remember why you love it so.
Both men are from the Wilmington, Delaware area, home of Winterthur, and head up the restoration department at Charlecote. They have been working in the field of wood, antiques and finishing for well over 20 years. The team of two cabinet-makers is headed by Jesse Cloud, who was in charge of the restoration department at Jackson-Mitchell antiques in Wilmington, Delaware, for almost 15 years. Jesse is supported by teammate David Adams. The men have training from Winerthur and the Smithsonian, but continue their educations in the field. They tend to work in the old world techniques that have served English antiques so well for centuries, shying away from the modern finishes used today.
The general maintenance, correct conservation and restoration of a piece of furniture is the best way to see your investment through to the next century.

Neutralised .
We received 4 e-mails from various parts of the world including the UK, Las Vegas West Virginia and Alabama.
These e-mails arrived from clients, friends and colleagues and were also sent out to Auction Houses.
The UK’s Art and Antique market was effectively on green alert. We let everyone know very quickly. This method appears to have worked.
The e-mails have 5-6 people in the cc box and come from someone you know ( whoever that might be ). It seems friendly, and contains a link. If you click on the link that’s it, you’re a gonner.
The virus arrived into the Art and Antique market via an antique dealership. It was sent to 1400 people in his data base and would have travelled on further afield, had we not acted fast.
With best wishes,

It is so frightening to hear of such things. A big “THANKYOU” to those who put a stop to it.
